Welcome to the E-Teach Website

E-teach is a mailing list which was created in 1998 by a dozen teachers of English in France, and now has upwards of 2000 members, mostly in France, but also in the Dom-Toms and in various other countries in Europe and Africa. Some of its members soon decided to leave the virtual space and meet for real. That was done in Privas, in 2000: a very friendly meeting organised by Phil Benz, an American expatriate. That was the very first "Cyber-Langues". That summer conference is now a regular event, and an opportunity to meet many of the members of this list in real life, as well as teachers of languages other than English.

E-teach aims to be a virtual space where the problems met in the course of our profession can be shared, and tips, ideas and advice exchanged. In short, anything that helps us improve as cyberteachers and feel that we are all in the same boat. E for electronic or E for English? Both. Teaching English now relies heavily on the use of TICE and particularly on all that the Internet has to offer. All e-teachers get acquainted with the intricacies of teaching English by using the appropriate software, websites and vast array of new techniques, for improved efficiency and motivation.

This website will enable you to take a tour around all that the list e-teach has to offer to help you improve your teaching practice, and you will then realise that the teaching community cannot do without such useful and friendly exchanges.
